Water Tap Program
Global Alliance for Africa's Programs
A $400 tap can change the lives
of an entire community.
Families, many who are
supporting AIDS orphans, have
safe water to drink, prepare food
and wash themselves. They can
support themselves by bottling
the water and selling it.
Teens learn to cut hair. They go to
local schools and are paid about 25
cents per student to shave the
heads of both boys and girls,
preventing the spread of lice. They
save the money to pay for advanced
education.
Two barbers, one who wants to be
journalist and the other aspiring
attorney, called in the best barber,
Mohammed, to cut Derek's hair.
Derek is one of traveling
companions.
Bicycle Barber Program
Tumaini Vocational Center
Tumaini is Swahili for hope.
Hundreds of kids come here to learn
language, computer, and other skills.
The program helps the kids learn
business and social skills. Most
start their own businesses after the
