Day Four, Mawenzi Tarn to Kibo:
The day four climb takes us from 14,206 feet to
15,419.
It is a slow walk through an alpine desert
dreamscape. The earth is dry, peppered only
by everlasting flower and thistles.
We move slow -- very slow across the saddle
between Mawenzi Tarn and Kibo Camp. It is
relatively flat terrain but the green tents that we
can see only a mile or so ahead of us feel like
an eternity away.
